| Well then, here is a continuance of my prior post!
Still more to come.... | | |
| Well even though it has taken me a few days to post it, I had a grrrreat time at my barbecue. Things went quite well and Rachel, Sarah, and Rachel showed their faces! What joy! I thought they were going to be no shows. I was truly surprised. Work and summer class have started. I think it will be okay. I went to the boat last night and lost way too much money, so I suppose, I will be going camping for a whole week this July instead of to Cancun. It's just as well, though. I need to be very careful with my funds since I will not be working during the entire fall and spring class sessions. I did manage to get my bills all paid off and that is a blessing. I think, I insulted Susan yesterday, but I surely hope not. I really would never want to offend her. I emailed and told her as much. I hope she believes me. It looks like my class is going to keep me quite busy, but I think, I will get a lot out of it. I am sort of sad about leaving the WC. Change is always frightening. PICS
Actually, since I have to run.......more to come....
| So, we returned last night from a wonderful Memorial Day weekend camp-out with Dan's family. We took Mikey for his first camping outing. He did really well but was still alot of work. After all, his IS two years old. We had a blast! Of course, Mikey didn't take any naps and fell asleep each night just tuckered out. He ate like crazy the whole time, which naturally surprised me since he is really a finiky eater. He played in the rain (it rained lightly off and on for a couple of hours) and seemed to find every puddle possible to splash either his hand or his foot in. We brought a few riding toys to keep him entertained, and they worked well most of the time. He got to ride on (uncle) Jim's boat, which he wasn't really thrilled with, at least not at first. He also went to see the ducks and feed the fish. These activities were much more to his liking. I had quite a bit of help with keeping an eye on him, and he really didn't get cranky until the last day...right about the time we broke camp. It worked out rather well. I am not sure who told him he could be his own person, but I find it to be a mistake. Anyway, we are home and rested.
All in all it was a success and a joy!
| Well, our camping trip was very relaxing. As a matter of fact, it was so relaxing...we slept for 13 hours! The first night we got to Eminence, we set up camp, ate dinner, drank a few beers, and chilled by the camp fire. The next morning we were up bright and early because we had spent the night shivering from the cold. The temperature must have dropped down below freezing. This I was not ready for and did not bring a heater...so we finally just stoked the fire added some wood and made coffee. This warmed us up considerably. Next, we decided to forego the usual ritual of making breakfast over an open flame. We opted for breakfast in town instead. It was delicious. After that we got our floating gear ready and found out that our floating cooler's lid would not cooperate and zip on properly. Oh well, we used it as was. So we finally got down to the river. YaY!! The current was pretty swift, and we never did drag. Things were going great. The water wasn't too cold and the day had warmed up to a toastey 78 degrees. Then, the river's swift current ran us into a fallen log. As we worked to get dislodged, a couple of amature canoeists (2 stupid women) rammed me. I was fine, but the mesh in my tube tore, and Dan's popped all together. So, we ended up floating half the river together on one tube. Since neither of us is really slender, I must say, we made the best of it. We laughed all the way down on that one tube. I also lost my new show and had to walk on some uncomfortable surfaces. We didn't mind, though. It was a great time! I am not sure if it was the Margaritas or just being together in nature...probably a bit of both. Anyway, after we got back, we were drunk, tired, and sunburned....and sleeping like the dead until morning. We slept from 5:30 in the afternoon until 6:30 in the morning, and when we awakened, we felt great. We made breakfast and broke camp. On the way home we stopped for a picnic in St. James at one of the nicest parks I have ever seen. Even though, things did not go according to plan, I would say it was a successful weekend. | | |
